Progress Announces Strategic Plan to Increase Growth, Profitability and Shareholder Value
Plans Include Focus on Next Generation Application Development and Deployment Platform, Divestment of Ten Non-Core Product Lines, $55 Million Cost Reductions and $350+ Million Share Repurchase
Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS) announced on 25-Apr-2012 a new strategic plan designed to enhance growth, profitability and shareholder value. Under the plan, Progress will become a leading provider of a next-generation, context-aware application development and deployment platform in the Cloud for the Application Platform-as-a-Service (aPaaS) market by investing in its core OpenEdge, DataDirect Connect and Apama Analytics and Decisions products and integrating them into a single, cohesive offering. The strategic plan leverages the Company’s inherent DNA and vast experience in application development and deployment established over 30 years.

EMEA PUG Challenge 2012 - Call for Speakers!
After the great success of the last years, the European Progress User Groups will again be organizing a technical and business oriented conference, this time to be held on November 15th and 16th in Manchester, United Kingdom. This event is expected to be the premier conference for the Progress community in Europe and the biggest conference of Progress developers in the year 2012.
Our goal is to deliver practical and highly valuable technical and business oriented content to our attendees – people involved in developing, integrating and managing applications:
- Demonstrates techniques and/or technology
- Provides/discusses code examples and illustrative diagrams
- Is informative and instructional
- Provides insight into current software development trends
We are now accepting session proposals for EMEA PUG Challenge 2012!
Sessions can be organized as a detailed how-to presentation, can focus on best practices, or can be a case studies that show the power of the Progress Software products or related technologies and industry trends.
We are planning a number of parallel tracks with topics on OpenEdge Administration, Development and Architecture, Business Process Management, Workflow Automation, Integration Technologies , SOA, SaaS, Event Processing, Mobile Apps, Web and Social Media. We are also accepting proposals for practical hands on workshops and all other topics of interest.
We are probably also going to provide time slots for „Birds of a Feather” style sessions for discussions between likeminded interest groups.
All sessions will be 60 minutes in length, that’s including answering any questions afterwards. If you feel your session needs more time, state that that in your proposal. It may be agreed that your session would be scheduled for two breakout slots. Speakers will receive a complimentary conference pass (max one speaker per session), travel expenses will be covered in parts based on the region the speaker is coming from (max one speaker per session), please indicate estimated travel expenses together with your submission. Speakers delivering commercial presentations are not eligible to any kind of compensation for travel expenses. Conference passes for commercial speakers are expected to come from the pool of conference passes received by the commercial organization for the sponsorship, there are no extra free conference passes for commercial speakers.
Speakers are expected to deliver copies of their slides before the conference so that we can distribute them to the conference attendees.

We are also calling for commercial sponsors for the event. If your organization is interested in supporting the event and leverage this unique opportunity to present your product and service offerings to a wide audience please get back to us as well so that we can discuss details! Only commercial sponsors will be allowed to do commercial presentations during the conference.

Hungarian PUG Conference - done :)
We can say a this kind of conference never happened in the +20 years history of Progress in Hungary, as we had on 27th of May in Gödöllő. So professional sessions - thanks again for our speakers and PSC for supporting our event. We were not too much but all the ones who attended enjoyed and tought it very useful.
